On October 27, 2025, the Mexican government published an amendment to the Ley Federal de Derechos in the Diario Oficial de la Federación, confirming increased government fees for specific immigration processes.
The amendment does not apply universally across all procedures. Notably, it includes a provision allowing a reduced fee rate—50% of the standard amount—for foreign nationals who can demonstrate to the National Immigration Institute (INM) that their stay in Mexico is for one of the following purposes:
- Family unity,
- A job offer from an individual or legal entity registered with the INM as an employer, or
- An invitation by a Mexican organization to engage in unpaid activities aligned with the Immigration Law and its Regulations.
At this stage, authorities have not released further details regarding:
- The specific immigration processes affected by the new fee structure,
- The exact fee amounts for each procedure, or
- The implementation mechanism, including payment channels and operational logistics.
