La Peñita RV and Trailer Park: A Cherished Chapter in Our RV Adventures
Nestled on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, La Peñita RV and Trailer Park in La Peñita de Jaltemba, Nayarit, holds a special place in our hearts. While Dorothy and I no longer RV in Mexico, our time at this wonderful park remains one of the highlights of our RV travels. Known for its breathtaking views and vibrant community, La Peñita was once our winter sanctuary and a true home away from home.
A Warm Welcome
From the moment we first arrived at La Peñita, we were enveloped by a sense of warmth and hospitality that made us feel like part of a big family. The Thackers, a Canadian couple from British Columbia who managed the park during our stays, were instrumental in fostering this welcoming atmosphere. Their dedication transformed La Peñita into what many fondly call the “Friendliest RV Park in Mexico.”
The Perfect Winter Escape
Open from November to May, La Peñita offered everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The park’s 100 full hook-up sites, provided the perfect setup for our RV adventures. With 30-amp electrical service and reliable WiFi, we enjoyed all the modern conveniences we needed to stay connected and comfortable during our stay.
We relished the chance to cool off in the swimming pool and participate in activities at the recreation hall. Each day was a delightful mix of relaxation and adventure. We spent our mornings strolling along the pristine beach, enjoying the fresh ocean breeze, and our afternoons lounging by the pool with friends. The sense of community was unparalleled, with fellow campers becoming lifelong friends as we joined in on fishing, boating, and friendly card games.

A Hideaway on the Hill
The park’s location, perched on a hill with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, was one of its most captivating features. Watching the sunset from this vantage point was a magical experience that we looked forward to each day. It’s no surprise that many visitors found themselves extending their stays, transforming a short visit into a month or even an entire season.

A Community Like No Other
The true heart of La Peñita was its people. The camaraderie and sense of belonging we felt were unmatched, thanks to the regulars who returned year after year. From lively parties to numerous events organized throughout the season, there was always something happening at La Peñita, making every visit an opportunity to forge new friendships and create unforgettable memories.
Getting There
Traveling to La Peñita RV and Trailer Park was always an easy and scenic journey along Highway 200, nestled between KM 91-92, between Tepic and Rincon de Guayabitos. This stretch of the Pacific Coast provided a beautiful backdrop to our adventures.
