Capital Cities of Mexican States

Capital Cities of Mexican States

Here is a comprehensive list of the capital cities for each of Mexico’s 31 states. In addition to these, Mexico City—known as “Ciudad de México” or “CDMX”—serves as the country’s capital but operates as a separate federal entity, distinct from any one state. Formerly referred to as the Distrito Federal (DF), Mexico City no longer carries this designation, though the term is still sometimes used informally. These capital cities are not only political hubs but also cultural and economic centers, each contributing to the rich diversity of Mexico’s landscape.
