Since January 20, more than 75,900 compatriots have returned from the United States, receiving their Repatriation Letters and being welcomed with respect and dignity through the Mexico Te Abraza strategy, reported Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez.

At President Claudia Sheinbaum’s People’s Conference, the federal official reported on the progress of the national plan and noted that more than 36,000 people have arrived at the border assistance centers; more than 28,000 of whom have been accommodated there.Currently, 4,935 countrymen and women are working in formal jobs.

She indicated that Mexicans admitted to the care centers have been offered more than 436,000 services, providing them with various options to help them resume their lives.

“It’s a strategy that came from the soul of President Claudia Sheinbaum, as a result of her sincere affection for our migrant sisters and brothers,” he emphasized.

For this reason, she recalled, the President instructed the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) to coordinate inter-institutional work across 34 Mexican government agencies, states, and various other entities, which was joined by the business sector, to welcome the returnees with warmth and compassion.

Secretary Rodríguez indicated that the Defense and Navy have provided them with more than 145,900 food rations; in addition, 13,800 medical and 5,300 psychological services have been provided, as well as legal, health, and anti-violence counseling for women.

He noted that for humanitarian and solidarity reasons, more than 50,000 people joined the Mexican Social Security Institute; more than 9,000 Unique Population Registry Codes (CURP) and certified copies of birth certificates were issued.

Likewise, he added, more than 41,200 people received the Paisano Welfare Card, worth 2,000 pesos, to cover their travel expenses to their communities; 15,000 were incorporated into welfare programs.

More than 2,000 consultations were also provided on land regularization, agrarian issues, and incorporation into housing programs; 7,687 remittance cards were issued through Financiera para el Bienestar.

The head of the Ministry of the Interior noted that the National Migration Institute (INM) has transported more than 16,000 Mexicans back to their states, the main ones being Coahuila, Durango, Zacatecas, Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Mexico City, Michoacán, Jalisco, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Puebla.

He emphasized that the Care Centers in Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Tamaulipas continue to operate.

Additionally, the center that operated in Nuevo León is already operating in Villahermosa, Tabasco; and the Nuevo Laredo center is in the process of being moved to Tapachula, Chiapas.

“We take this opportunity today to tell our fellow countrymen and women that they are not alone; they should know that Mexico always embraces them,” he emphasized.

He recalled that the Mexico Te Abraza strategy is coordinated with national and international organizations, such as the National Human Rights Commission and the United Nations Offices. From the Ministry of the Interior, personnel from various departments monitor any potential incidents 24 hours a day.
