Baja Routes

The Baja Routes explore the Baja Peninsula from the USA Border. The Highways tend to be narrow but the experiences are BIG and glorious.

North/South

Highway 1 Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas

Highway 5 Mexicali to San Felipe

West/East

Highway 2 Tijuana to Playa Bagdad

Highway 3 Ensenada to Junction Highway 5

 

 

The West Coast route winds its way down the country past beaches small communities and resorts.

West Coast

The West Coast routes lead from the USA border all the way down to Guatemala. This route includes beach resorts to small beach communities; large cities to medium Mexican towns.

North/South

Highways 15 and 15D – Nogales to Mexico City

Interior Routes

Sometimes called the heart of Mexico; the interior routes offer a variety of experiences. Culture abounds; traditional to modern. Cowboys to ballet. The variety of architecture is amazing; Pyramids, skyscrapers, simple adobe abodes.

Highway 8 – Sonoyta to Puerto Peñasco

Highway 15 & 15D – Tepic, Nayarit to Atlacomulco

Highway 45 – Ciudad Juarez to Morelia, Michoacán

Highway 57 – Piedras Negras to Mexico City

Highway 85 – Nuevo Laredo to Ciudad Victoria

Morelia to Lázaro Cárdenas – connecting roads via Pátzcuaro and Uruapan

Highway 95 – Mexico City to Acapulco, Guerrero

Highway 135 Tehuacan to Oaxaca, Oaxaca

East West

Highway 2 – San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora to Ciudad Juarez

Highway 40 – Mazatlan, Sinaloa to Reynosa

Highway 150 – Mexico City to Veracruz

Highway 190 – Oaxaca to Comitán

 

 

The Gulf Coast route winds southward slowly through towns and cities. There is a variety of landscapes.

Gulf Coast Routes

Often unexplored, the Gulf Coast Routes offer a variety of city experiences as well as interesting rural life. Drug violence has deterred many travelers from this area.

North/South

Highway 101, 180 – Matamoros to Cancun
